Updated: Apr 10, 2019

Purpose of this Resource French Street® is a collection of French resources to support teachers, students and parents. The website contains a variety of French resources to help create French language learning opportunities in Ontario (and beyond) through the arts, interactive workshops, field trips, educational and cultural exchanges, community events and more. This website is perfect for teachers who want to enrich their FSL classroom environments and is also a great way to find opportunities to make French come to life, which will allow students to further develop their French language skills. All the activities, programs, workshops, resources and more found on French Street® are tailored to meet the Ontario curriculum objectives of Core French, Extended French and French Immersion programs and range from K-12 French language levels.

Benefits for Students In order for Core French, Extended French and French Immersion students to further develop their French language skills, there needs to be experiential learning incorporated into the learning process. Experiential learning means to learn beyond the classroom/hands-on. French Street® gives Ontario students the opportunity to find a variety of French programs, activities, camps and exchange opportunities to further develop their French language abilities. Benefits for Teachers French Street® is a great resource for FSL teachers! This website allows teachers to easily search a variety of opportunities in Ontario to help engage their students as they learn French. Educators can find fun and engaging French field trips in their community and also guest speakers and entertainers who will bring French to life with interactive art forms. French Street® also gives teachers the opportunity to build awareness and understanding of the Francophone culture in Ontario and around the world!

Limitations Most of the activities, programs and camps take place in Ontario cities such as Ottawa and Toronto. Smaller Ontario cities and towns might not be able to find as many options. Most of the activities, programs and camps found on this website have a cost.

Reliability French Street® was developed and is maintained by Canadian Parents for French (Ontario), a non-profit organization with over 20,000 members. All the resources found on this website support the goals in the Framework for FSL in Ontario School (Ministry of Education).
